How to upscale a video with AI

  1. Tap the box and choose a video or image from your device — the file is never uploaded.
  2. Pick “Pro” for the best quality or “Fast” for a quicker result, and set the content type (real footage or cartoon).
  3. Choose the final resolution — up to 4K — and drag the comparison line to see the difference before you start.
  4. Press “Start upscaling” and keep the page open; the tool shows the progress and the time left.
  5. Save the new file — MP4 for video, PNG or JPG for images — with no account and no watermark.

Before and after: what the AI actually does

When you enlarge a video the ordinary way, each pixel is stretched over several pixels: edges turn soft, text gets blurry and no new detail appears. AI upscaling works differently. A neural network trained on thousands of high-quality images that were deliberately degraded with compression and blur has learned what sharp edges and natural textures look like, and it redraws every frame at twice the resolution and fills the new pixels with plausible detail instead of copies.

In “Pro” mode the model also deals with the damage left by social networks and messaging apps: square blocks, halos around edges, bleeding colours and detail that melted away in compression. That is why the difference is clearest on videos downloaded from the internet and on old recordings. The before/after view shows you the same part of the frame at real size, so you see the gain before waiting a single minute.

Upscale images and sharpen blurry photos

The same tool upscales photos up to four times: a 1000×750 picture becomes 4000×3000 with clearer detail and clean edges — handy for old photos, profile pictures, stills cropped from a video and artwork you want to print. Pick the image, compare before and after, then save it as PNG to keep every detail or JPG for a smaller file.

When do you get 4K?

The AI is most precise when it doubles the resolution once; the frame is then fitted exactly to the size you choose:

  • 480p video → 1080p (Full HD) with a big clarity gain, or 1440p.
  • 720p video → 1440p (2K), the best starting point on the way to 4K.
  • 1080p video → 2160p (4K) with a full doubling of every frame.

Vertical video (Reels, Shorts, TikTok) is treated the same way and keeps its orientation — for example it comes out at 2160×3840.

Tips for the best result

  • Use the best copy of the video you have: the less compressed the original, the cleaner the result.
  • Choose “Cartoon & anime” for animation: its model keeps lines crisp and flat colours clean.
  • For a long clip on a phone, try “Fast” or 1080p — or use a computer to get “Pro” results much faster.
  • If the picture looks over-sharpened, set Sharpness to “Natural”.

Want to edit the video after upscaling it?

Open it in Fast Edit to trim it and add audio and text, or turn your images into a whiteboard video.

Frequently asked questions

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. Your video or photo never leaves your device: reading, AI enhancement and saving all happen inside your browser on your own graphics chip. The only thing downloaded from our site is the AI model itself — your files are never sent to us or stored.

Is this real upscaling or just resizing?

Real upscaling. Ordinary resizing stretches pixels and makes the picture blurrier. Here a neural network trained on thousands of high-quality images that were deliberately degraded with compression and blur has learned to rebuild edges and detail, and the “Pro” mode also removes the compression blocks and smearing that social apps add. You can see the difference yourself in the before/after view before you start.

Can it upscale video to 4K?

Yes. Pick 4K under “Final resolution” and every frame is upscaled by the AI and exported at 3840×2160 (or 2160×3840 for vertical video). The best results come from 1080p to 4K or 720p to 2K, because the AI works most precisely when it doubles the size once.

Does it work on Android and iPhone?

Yes on modern phones: Chrome on Android 12 or newer, and Safari on iOS 26 or newer. Phones are slower than computers, so the tool suggests a resolution and mode that suit your device and shows the expected time before you start. For long videos a computer is recommended.

How long does it take, and why does speed vary?

The AI enhances every frame separately, and a video has 25 to 60 frames per second, so speed depends on your device’s graphics power. The tool measures your device during the preview and shows an honest time estimate before you begin. “Fast” mode is several times quicker than “Pro”.

Is there a length or size limit, or a watermark?

No watermark, no sign-up, no subscription. Video length and size are limited only by your device’s power and the storage your browser is allowed to use; the tool checks the space before it starts and warns you if it is not enough. Video output goes up to 4K, and images up to about 33 megapixels on a computer (about 16 on a phone).

Is the audio kept?

Yes, in almost all cases. AAC or MP3 audio is copied as it is, without re-compression; other audio formats are converted to high-quality AAC with the same timing. If your browser cannot carry that audio format, the tool tells you before you start.

Which formats are supported? What about iPhone videos?

The tool reads MP4, MOV, WEBM and MKV videos, and JPG, PNG and WEBP images. iPhone HEVC videos work on most modern devices; if yours will not open, set Settings → Camera → Formats to “Most Compatible”, or send the video to yourself on WhatsApp and use the received copy. The output is always an MP4 that plays everywhere.

Which videos improve the most?

The biggest gains are on low-quality footage: clips saved from social apps, old 480p or 720p recordings, cartoons and anime, and screen recordings with text. Heavily shaken or out-of-focus video still improves, but no tool can invent detail that was never filmed.

Can I upscale content I do not own?

The tool runs on your device and never sees what you process, but upscaling does not give you any rights to the content. Use it for your own videos and photos or for material you are allowed to use, and respect copyright when you republish anything.
